Environment Agency Abu Dhabi saves endangered dugong through rescue and rehabilitation efforts

 




The Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) recently rescued and rehabilitated a dugong named Malqout, an endangered marine mammal found in the waters of the United Arab Emirates. The dugong was found stranded and injured in Abu Dhabi’s waters and was immediately taken to the EAD’s rescue and rehabilitation center.

The rescue team conducted a thorough examination of Malqout and found that it had suffered from injuries caused by a boat’s propeller. The team then started its rehabilitation process by providing the dugong with the necessary medical treatment, nutritious food, and physical therapy.
