UAE President and Israeli PM Discuss Strengthening Ties in Phone Call

 



The Abraham Accords, signed in September 2020, paved the way for historic normalization between the UAE and Israel. Since then, the two countries have been taking significant steps to deepen their relationship across various sectors. On Monday, the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, and Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, held a phone call to discuss further strengthening their ties.

The leaders discussed a range of issues, including the need to expedite the implementation of joint projects that will boost economic cooperation and create job opportunities. They also spoke about the importance of enhancing cultural and tourism ties between the two countries.

The phone call comes as both countries are experiencing an economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. With the UAE and Israel being leaders in innovation and technology, there is significant potential for collaboration in these fields. The two leaders expressed their commitment to advancing this collaboration and exploring new opportunities in areas such as health, agriculture, and space.

This latest conversation between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Netanyahu builds on previous discussions and efforts to enhance cooperation between the two countries. In November 2020, a delegation from the UAE’s financial center, Abu Dhabi Global Market, visited Israel to explore opportunities for collaboration in the financial sector. In December 2020, the UAE and Israel signed a visa waiver agreement, allowing citizens of both countries to travel without a visa.

The UAE has been a strong advocate of peace and stability in the Middle East, and its decision to normalize ties with Israel has been widely praised. The Abraham Accords have opened up new possibilities for cooperation and collaboration between the two countries, and the phone call between the leaders is a testament to the progress that has already been made.
