UAE sends 116 tonnes of aid to Sudan amid conflict

The United Arab Emirates has sent three planes carrying 116 tonnes of medical and food aid to Sudan to assist people affected by the ongoing conflict. Two of the planes landed at Port Sudan airport, carrying medical supplies and drugs such as surgical tape and endoscopy kits, while the third arrived at Abeche Airport in Chad with 16 tonnes of food for Sudanese refugees. This is the latest demonstration of the UAE’s solidarity with Sudan, which has been experiencing fighting between warring military factions and has resulted in a shortage of basic supplies.

Since the conflict began, the UAE has delivered over 476 tonnes of medical and food supplies to Sudan. The aid campaign was carried out under the directive of the UAE’s leadership, according to Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation for International Development Affairs. He said that the fighting in Sudan had severely disrupted vital services and exacerbated the challenges facing the population.

The UAE’s assistance to Sudan reflects its commitment to supporting countries affected by conflict and crisis. The aid not only helps those in need, but also promotes stability and security in the region. As the situation in Sudan continues to evolve, it is important for the international community to provide ongoing support to those affected by the conflict.
